Spring Decorating Tips From The Experts

It’s officially spring, which means it’s time to air out your rooms and freshen your interior with some new spring decorations. Mary Carol Garrity, an interior decorator, has suggested 4 ways to bring spring into your household.

Add Some Green

Bring spring green into your home with potted plants or ferns. Garrity said the plants don’t even have to be real. Instead, you can “buy fakes to tuck into existing displays.” Wreaths are one easy type of decoration you can add to bring in the green. Hang one from your door, your mantel, or add one to your centerpiece for some instant springy décor.

Wrap Around Some Ribbons

Adding ribbons in bright spring colors to existing interior décor is another easy way to freshen up your home. Wrap it around a candle, a wreath, a vase, or hang different lengths from the arms of a chandelier. Garrity said you could even “secure branches or garland around interior doorways or from the ceiling and dangle delightful things from the branches using spring ribbon.”

Spring For New Fabric

All you need is a couple yards of springy fabric to bring the outdoors in. A table runner is easily crafted—all you have to do is cut the fabric and stitch a hem to create a bright, attractive decoration. You could also get new pillows or dining chair cushions to add a splash of color or accent colors already present in your room.

Tastefully Place Pottery

Pottery is an age-old form of decoration that keeps getting revamped. It works great as a modern decoration and intrepid homeowners might consider using several pieces as centerpieces or end table displays. Plus, Garrity said the best part is “pottery is also super affordable, so if you want to give your home a B-12 shot you can do so on a budget by getting a trio of colorful pots.”
