Resources For Weekend Warriors

Whether you’re looking to put your home on the market, or you just want to change it up a little, some remodeling projects are worth more in the valuation of your home than others.

According to a report by CBS Chicago, the two rooms in the house that have the best return on remodeling costs are the kitchen and the bathroom. Don’t think you have to splurge on full blown remodels though; even small updates can be beneficial.

One of the best ways to get the most bang for your buck is to do the work yourself instead of hiring a contractor, and with many home improvement stores putting do-it-yourself guides and videos on the web, they are making it easier than ever for just about anyone to do just about any type of small renovations.

WalMart offers ‘Projects Made Simple’ a web based DIY guide that shows step-by-step how to do many projects, complete with a listing of necessary tools and tips to get the job done right. Lowes has a complete How-To- Projects guide section on its website that showcases even more how-to guides and videos. Home Depot offers a plethora  of web-based guides and videos also, and don’t forget that this home improvement store also offers in store training for a large number of common projects.

Many contractors and home improvement cable shows also put how-to videos on the web, either on their own websites or on places like YouTube. With a little research, you can find complete instruction for pretty much any remodeling project you want to complete.
